William Cullerne Bown
William Cullerne Bown is one of the world’s leading journalists writing about public policy and research. He founded Research Fortnight in 1994 and later launched Research Europe, Onderzoek Nederland and, in 2005, Research Africa. He has a first-class degree in mathematics from the University of Warwick, spent four years on the staff of The Independent newspaper in London and four years at New Scientist magazine. William writes a column for Research Fortnight and occasionally contributes to Prospect magazine in London.

Ehsan Masood
Ehsan Masood is the editor of Research Fortnight and Research Europe. He also teaches international science policy at Imperial College London and is the author of several books, including Science and Islam, a History (Icon, 2009) and Dry: Life without water (Harvard, 2006). Ehsan was formerly on the staff of Nature where he worked for many years as a writer and editor. He frequently appears as a commentator on the environment for BBC Radio 4 and is a trustee of the not-for-profit leadership-training organisation Leadership for Environment and Development.

Colin Macilwain
Colin Macilwain is the associate editor of Research Fortnight and Research Europe. An experienced editor and writer on all aspects of science policy, he worked as news editor for Nature in the United States, and joined Research Fortnight in 2008. Colin trained as an engineer and has a masters in economic history from Birkbeck College, University of London. He writes a regular column on international research policy for the journal Nature.

John Dwyer is the comment and analysis editor for Research Fortnight and Research Europe. His work has appeared in the UK's leading newspapers and industrial magazines for almost 40 years. He edited the Financial Times newsletter on manufacturing technology for five years, was the Periodical Publishers' Association Columnist of the Year in 2002.

Brian Owens is the news editor of Research Fortnight and Research Europe and a leading authority on international science and technology policy. He has a first degree in the biological sciences and a master’s degree in science communication from Imperial College London.

Linda Nordling
Linda Nordling is the Nordic editor of Research Europe. She writes a monthly column about African research policy for SciDev.Net and writes about research and development for Nature. Linda is a former news editor of Research Fortnight and founding editor of Research Africa. She has also written for The Guardian, New Scientist, Times Higher Education, Chemistry World and The Scientist. Linda studied mathematics and science communication at Imperial College London.

Laura Hood
Laura Hood is a reporter for Research Fortnight and Research Europe. Her special areas of interest include physics and astronomy funding, space science and biodiversity as well as research policy in France, Italy and Wales. Laura studied English and French at the University of Leeds before joining Research.

Inga Vesper
Inga Vesper is a reporter and European correspondent for Research Fortnight and Research Europe. Her specialist areas include research in Germany and Eastern Europe. She also covers the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Research Council, and writes on climate change and international development. Inga is a graduate in journalism from City University, London, where she focused on conflict and political reporting.

Elizabeth Gibney
Elizabeth Gibney is a reporter for Research Fortnight and Research Europe. Her specialist areas include medical and biological sciences, industrial R&D and intellectual property. She also covers research policy in Spain and Russia and writes the US daily bulletin. Elizabeth has a first degree in physics and the history and philosophy of science from the University of Cambridge and a masters in science communication from Imperial College London. She also spent two years as a staff writer at the European particle physics laboratory Cern and has written for The Sunday Times.

Rebecca Trager
Rebecca Trager is the US correspondent for Research Europe and also writes the Research USA bulletin. She covers the White House, as well as government departments and agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and NASA. Rebecca studied philosophy and political theory at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She is a former managing editor of The Blue Sheet, a biomedical research and health policy publication based near Washington, DC.
